The Conservatory's Brass Department features a world-class faculty, all of whom are current or past members of the San Francisco Symphony. Small studio sizes and a close-knit faculty allow students to work closely not only with their studio teacher, but with other members of the brass faculty as well.

· Mario Guarneri invented the BERP and performed 15 seasons
with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and 10 seasons as principal trumpet with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra
· Dave Burkhart has served as principal trumpet of the Santa Fe Opera, as well as the Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose and Jerusalem symphonies, and as acting principal of San Francisco Opera and the San Diego Symphony
