Students Featured on Upcoming Album

Eight guitar students will be featured on composer Javier Farías' upcoming CD Seis Miradas por Latinoamerica (Six Perspectives on Latin America), which honors six Latin American writers who have won the Nobel Prize in Literature. The SFCM students perform Nazcan—a 20-minute suite that includes two narrators is based on the poem Clarivigilia Primaveralby Guatemalan Nobel Prize winner Miguel Ángel Asturias . Nazcan was written for the SFCM Guitar Ensemble directed by David Tanenbaum, which includes Bradly Pupa, Josh Moore, Patrick Smith, Nathania Isnandar, Nathaniel Martinez, Natalie Georgievova, Katrina Gavelinand Kevin Ayers, the piece received its premiere in January at the 2016 Biasini International Guitar Competition hosted at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. The Guitar Ensemble brings Nazcan to this year's Guitar Foundation of America's convention held in Denver. "The students are incredibly excited about this opportunity, for which the conservatory is sponsoring their participation," says Tanenbaum.
