Summer Classes

New Online Summer Classes

Continuing Education Summer Online Classes provide opportunities for adult musicians to continue their musical studies. Classes will be held entirely online using a video conference interface. Students will be expected to have an internet connection, camera, and microphone to communicate with the teacher and other students.

  • Music Appreciation and Analysis

    Two courses lead by Harry Whitney. Music Appreciation: Elements of Music from Baroque through 20th Century appropriate for all levels of musician, delves into music vocabulary and identifying musical elements that elicit responses in listeners. Harmony and Analysis Workshop for students who have taken Music Theory already, apply analysis skills to see how composers through the ages use principles of dissonance and resolution of dissonance to create musical meaning.

  • Virtual Piano Courses

    Three courses led by Jacqueline Chew, students must have access to a piano or keyboard during online classes. Advanced Piano I focuses on major scales and two-handed coordination. Piano Solo Repertory allows pianists to focus on their own piece and culminates in a performance opportunity in the final class. Piano Master Class: Waltzes and Mazurkas focuses on piano solo repertoire using the left hand “waltz” style technique.
