Summer Classes

Continuing Education Online Summer Classes

Continuing Education Summer Online Classes provide opportunities for adult musicians to continue their musical studies. Classes will be held entirely online through Zoom. Students will be expected to have an internet connection, camera, and microphone to communicate with the teacher and other students.

  • Harry Whitney teaching

    Music Appreciation and Analysis

    Two courses led by Harry Whitney. Music Appreciation: Bird's Eye Bach appropriate for all levels of musician, provides a look at the life, work, influences, and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach. Harmony and Analysis Workshop for students who have at least a basic understanding of Music Theory, apply analysis skills to see how composers through the ages use principles of dissonance and resolution of dissonance to create musical meaning.

  • Jacqueline Chew

    Virtual Piano Courses

    Three courses led by Jacqueline Chew, students must have access to a piano or keyboard during online classes. Advanced Piano I focuses on major scales and two-handed coordination. Piano Solo Repertory allows pianists to focus on their own piece and culminates in a performance opportunity in the final class. Piano Master Class: Music of the Americas focuses on piano solo repertoire composed by North, Central, and South American composers.

    Guitar & Ukulele

    Two courses and two workshops led by Mark Simons to guide students who are looking to start on the guitar or ukulele! Introduction to Guitar will take students on a journey through a wide variety of guitar styles. In Introduction to Ukulele, students will learn several strumming and fingerpicking patterns and apply these techniques to easy songs and enjoyable short pieces in a variety of styles. No experience is necessary to participate in these classes!
