Glory Denied

Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied made waves in opera circles when it premiered a decade ago, and it continues to be programmed by some of the nation’s most prominent opera houses. The work tells the story of Jim Thompson, the longest-held prisoner of war in US history, as he tries to re-assimilate into American life after spending nine years behind enemy lines in Vietnam. Timely for any generation, Glory Denied shines a light on the very real consequences of war.
