About the Program

For the fourth consecutive year, Music Of Rememberance brings its music and mission to the Bay Area. The program features the Bay Area premieres of Christophe Chagnard’s Gaman—a deeply moving exploration of the wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans, and Snow Falls by Ryuichi Sakamoto, an eloquent plea about the urgency of preventing nuclear war. The concert also features Paul Schoenfield’s Sparks of Glory, four passionate portraits of Holocaust defiance, and Cantor Roslyn Barak’s soulful interpretations of songs written and sung by prisoners in Terezín under the noses of their captors.

Opening Remarks by Consul General of Japan, Tomochika Uyama
