What is your hometown?

Brest, France

What is your favorite recording?

I love the old French singers like Brassens, Trenet, Piaf, Brel, Ferrat, and especially Yves Montand, who sings “Barbara”, which is about my hometown.

What are you passionate about outside of music?

I am passionate about French literature and art — especially, the impressionists. I am also in love with the Iranian culture and have started to learn Farsi.

What is a favorite quote that you repeatedly tell students?

“Toutes les grandes personnes ont d'abord été des enfants. (Mais peu d'entre elles s'en souviennent.)”
—Le Petit Prince de Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

If you weren't a musician or teacher, what do you think you would be doing now?

If I were not a teacher, I would be working in a museum (such as Le Musee d'Orsay in Paris).
