Requirements:  Intended for students considering or planning a major or minor in music in college.

In this workshop for musicians interested in pursuing music in college, Pre-College Dean Michael Roest and experts in the music industry will help you create a master plan for your college and conservatory applications. You will identify your core values and career goals, research colleges and degree programs, build your application list and audition repertoire matrix, map out your application timeline, create a smart financial plan, and learn techniques to prepare for your pre-screening tapes and live auditions.


Michael Roest serves as Associate Dean and Executive Director of Pre-College and Continuing Education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. There he leads all aspects of an immersive Pre-College program for over 270 students ages 4 through 18 and a Continuing Education program for Bay Area amateur and professional musicians. Roest also serves on the Pre-College brass faculty and directs the Pre-College Brass Ensemble and Contemporary Music Ensemble. An active member of San Francisco's music community, Roest has served on the Board of Directors for the Cazadero Music Camp and the Advisory Board for the Amateur Music Network. Roest completed his Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and his Master of Music from The Juilliard School.
