January 26, 2015 by Alexandra Gilliam

The alumni-founded and run Switchboard Music Festival received a CMA/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming at Chamber Music America’s national conference in New York. Of eight ensembles and presenters honored, Switchboard was the only one located outside the northeast U.S. The award recognizes organizations that program chamber works written within the last 25 years and seek innovative ways to reach audiences. Run by alumni and faculty members Ryan Brown ’05, Jeff Anderle ’06 and Annie Phillips ’10, and co-founded by Anderle, Brown and Jonathan Russell ’03, Switchboard regularly highlights Conservatory composers and performers, both in its annual festival and in its year-round music series at the Center for New Music. The eighth annual Switchboard Music Festival takes place on April 4 at San Francisco’s Brava Theater.
