DuMarkus Davis (BM ’18) is one of three recipients of the 2021 Sphinx Tank Grant. Sphinx Tank showcases emerging arts and cultural entrepreneurs of color by providing support for their original projects while further empowering their work as citizen-artists. Grant recipients will receive $15,000 each for their projects.

Davis, featured recently on Forbes’ “30 under 30” list, is the founder and CEO of Musicbuk, a virtual learning platform that connects aspiring musicians of all levels to a wide network of trusted, vetted, professional musicians for 1-on-1 music lessons. The company—which Davis refers to as Uber for music teachers—matches students on their experience, learning styles, and more to instructors that best fit their needs and goals.
