Guitar faculty Meng Su has been awarded a notably high honor!

Su has been recognized as one of this year's Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow by Tatler Media. The annual Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow recognizes the most promising young leaders shaping Asia's future. “Classical guitar and classical music are experiencing a beautiful revival in Asia, and I’m thrilled to be part of that movement,” Su said.

Gen.T Leaders of Tomorrow are known as trailblazing entrepreneurs, creatives and changemakers who are making a positive impact in the region.  Not only does Su travel frequently for performances and workshops around the world, but she’s working on updating the solo classical guitar experience into the future. “In recent years, while performing in traditional formats, I’ve also focused on creating innovative multimedia experiences for classical guitar, bringing this timeless music to audiences in new and meaningful ways," she added.

Su joined the faculty of SFCM in 2021. She hopes her work inspires students to become musicians who do more than just playing their instrument well. “As a teacher, my goal is to instill in my students a sense of purpose, creativity, and perseverance. I want them to understand that music is not just about technique, but about a passion for life and the joy of sharing that passion with others,” Su said. “Moving forward, I will continue to stay true to my mission and contribute to the growth of classical music across the world.”

Spearheaded by an all-star faculty with top-level expertise ranging from early music to cutting-edge modern work, SFCM’s guitar program honors the historic tradition of classical guitar while cultivating innovation.
