SFCM Announces New Executive Director of Pre-College and Continuing Education
On staff since 2019, Keelin Davis will lead both divisions, advancing opportunities for young musicians and aspiring adults.
SFCM's Pre-College and Continuing Education departments have a new hand at the wheel—and it's a familiar one to the Conservatory.
Keelin Davis will be the new Associate Dean and Executive Director of Pre-College and Continuing Education. Davis joined the Conservatory in 2019 as the Program Manager in Pre-College and Continuing Education and was promoted to Associate Director in 2024.
“The Pre-College community is what drew me in from the very beginning,” Davis said. “It’s also what I’m most proud of. We focus on creating a supportive environment in which our talented students can thrive. From providing opportunities to explore music technology to collaborating with artists from SFCM’s alliance, the Pre-College provides a comprehensive music education.”
A violinist, Davis was a Suzuki student growing up. That method’s emphasis on early music education for children helped her hone in on her goal of providing music education for the youngest age groups. In 2021 the Pre-College division added its Early Childhood Program and Smart Start classes that focus on introducing students as young as one to music.
“A highlight for me has been the launch and growth of the Early Childhood Program. We’ve elevated the opportunities available for young musicians in the Bay Area by bringing them into the conservatory very early on in their musical journey,” she added.
SFCM’s Pre-College division provides an immersive set of programs that instill the value of music in youth 18 and under. Continuing Education offers a variety of musical opportunities for adult students designed to suit all levels of interest and aspiration in both private instruction and group study.
“I’m incredibly proud of the outstanding work being done in both divisions,” Davis continued. “Our exceptional faculty make SFCM the premier destination for students committed to lifelong learning and artistic excellence.’
SFCM leadership expressed strong confidence in Davis and the impact she will continue to have on student success. “I am excited to work with Keelin and look forward to watching her lead these important programs,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jonas Wright. “I am confident that under her guidance, these programs will continue to grow and positively influence the personal development and success of our students.”
Davis hails from upstate New York and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music with a B.M. in Violin Performance. In her free time, you can catch her exploring new running spots around the Bay Area, volunteering with the Korean adoptee community, and attending concerts with her family.
