International Awards for Wuu
Pre-College pianist Elliot Wuu won Second Prize at the International e-Piano Junior Competition in Minneapolis on June 16 after performing part of Saint-Saëns second piano concerto with the Minnesota Orchestra. Wuu also won the Special Schubert Prize for his performance in the semi-final round. The e-competition’s “virtual” preliminary round, held at sites around the world, uses Yamaha Disklavier concert grand pianos to record nuances of contestants' playing, such as pressure on keys and pedals. The performances are re-created in front of the jury on a second piano with synched video.
Wuu's e-victory comes a few weeks after he also won Junior Division Third Prize and the Mozart Prize at the CIPC Young Artists Competition, a contest presented by the prestigious Cleveland International Piano Competition. Wuu studies with Yoshikazu Nagai.
