The San Francisco Conservatory of Music presents the beloved operatic comedy L'elisir d'amore in a new, fully-staged production on Thursday, April 2 and Saturday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. Jose Maria Condemi, recently named Director of Opera of SFCM, directs a student cast and chorus in Donizetti's tale of a country boy who aims to win the heart of a well-heeled lady with the help of a quack doctor. Conservatory Orchestra music director Scott Sandmeier conducts from the pit. In addition to two full performances at the Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall at 50 Oak Street, SFCM brings a condensed version of the opera to the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage in Washington D.C. on April 19 and also presents three outreach performances throughout the month for Bay Area school children in partnership with San Francisco Opera and the Napa Valley Opera House.
