Over her 25-year teaching career, Zhao Wei’s success as a violin teacher traces back to her accomplished career as a professional violinist herself. Her principal teachers include world renowned violinist Camilla Wicks, Mark Sokol, Shisheng Zheng and Weimin Hu. From 1998 to 2004, Ms. Zhao Wei was a collegiate violin faculty at the string department of Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China. She performed as a soloist with the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Opera Symphony, and the San Francisco Conservatory Orchestras.

Since she first started teaching in 1998, her students have been invited and gone on to win top prizes at prestigious violin competitions including Menuhin, Postacchini, Klein, Shanghai Issac Stern, Schoenfeld, Karol Lipinski, Cooper, Ysaye, Johansen, and Fischoff International Competitions. They have been accepted into top music programs including those at Julliard, New England Conservatory of Music, Cleveland Institute of Music, Rice, USC, Northwestern, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Brown and Columbia Universities. Her students have also been invited to world renowned music festivals such as the Perlman Music Program, Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Yellow Barn Music Program, Aspen Music Festival, National Youth Orchestra USA, Heifetz International Music Institute, Tanglewood Music festival, Meadowmount Summer School and Music@ Menlo. Her students have also served as Concertmaster and Section Principal for NYO and NYO2 concerts. Today her students hold important positions in the world’s major orchestras in China and Singapore.
