Critically acclaimed and world-renowned singer Joyce DiDonato—and her “nothing less than 24-carat gold [voice],” per the New York Times—will be headlining SFCM's annual fundraising celebration January 16, 2024. The performance salutes the generous efforts from the community that enable 100% of full-time students at SFCM to receive merit aid this semester.

During the multi-GRAMMY-winning DiDonato's visit, she will also work with SFCM students in side-by-side readings, culminating in a performance during the fundraiser that will include a student-led baroque ensemble and jazz combo. DiDonato is an Askonas Holt artist, one of two leading artist-management companies recently acquired by SFCM.

"I’m elated to return to the vibrant energy and visionary environment of the SFCM for their annual gala this year," DiDonato said of her upcoming visit. "The leadership and commitment to Arts Education that is espoused by the Conservatory inspires me, and is precisely the philosophy and work I wish to amplify with my voice. Great things are happening in San Francisco, and I can’t wait to witness how the wonderful young musicians bring this vision out into the world!" she added.

"We are so excited to welcome Joyce DiDanato to SFCM, her ongoing relationship with the Conservatory inspires all of us," said SFCM president David H. Stull. "We are honored to have her with us, and her work with the Eden project is a great example of how to build the future of music."
DiDonato's relationship with SFCM is a long one, including giving masterclasses at the Conservatory. Most recently she gave the commencement address to the 2022 graduating class.

Following this program, guests will be transported to Storek, a historic venue South of Market in San Francisco, for an exquisite dining experience featuring a dynamic and theatrical performance by neo-cabaret artist Meow Meow.

Named one of the “Top Performers of the Year” by The New Yorker, "post-post-modern diva" Meow Meow has hypnotized, inspired, and entertained audiences globally with unique creations and sell-out seasons from New York’s Lincoln Center and Berlin’s Bar Jeder Vernunft to London’s West End and the Sydney Opera House. Meow Meow is also an Opus 3 Artist, the management company acquired by SFCM in 2020.

SFCM is dedicated to a future in which every gifted young musician can access a quality education and graduate free from the burden of loan debt. Proceeds for The Fourth Hall fundraising evening go toward SFCM’s scholarship program, and 99 percent of current students attend with the help of significant need-based scholarships. Last year's fundraiser featuring Yuja Wang raised $1.2 million for scholarships. Guests of this event will also get a preview of upgrades coming to SFCM's concert hall, which will be announced at a later date.

This event is presented by lead corporate sponsor Harry Winston.
