Where excellence meets artistry

Challenge. Inspire. Grow.

Made up of a renowned faculty and a bold, talented student body, SFCM’s Woodwind Department challenges and inspires the next generation of great wind players. As a student of bassoon, clarinet, flute, and oboe, you will explore orchestra and chamber repertoire, contemporary music, and canon literature—all while honing your craft and preparing for a rewarding professional career.

Tailored instruction by all-star faculty offers unique opportunities for growth and mentorship. Small studio sizes (six students at most) guarantee individualized attention.

Numerous performances both within the conservatory and around the Bay Area will transform you from student to professional. Experience the action up close with SFCM’s many connections to the San Francisco Symphony, including free tickets, dress rehearsal and backstage access, and the unique ability to play side-by-side with the industry’s leading professionals.
