Pursue perfection. Achieve excellence.
About ten students under the instruction of SFCM's esteemed faculty professors, including principal players from the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera and Ballet orchestras, make up SFCM's trumpet department. You'll have opportunities to perform with resident ensembles such as the Conservatory Orchestra and chamber groups, with emphasis on both contemporary and classical music, and to enter an annual brass concerto competition.

Industry Alliances to Support Students and Artists
In recent years, SFCM acquired two leading artist management companies and an iconic record label to reimagine how elements of the music industry can better integrate to advance the human experience through music. For students, that means more opportunities to interact with touring artists and industry experts–including professional development workshops, side-by-side performances, and enhanced masterclasses.
Visiting the Campus
We look forward to your visit! Contact the Office of Admissions to take a tour of our facilities. You can also contact the brass faculty directly to arrange a consultative lesson.
Ensembles
Performance opportunities abound at SFCM. Ensembles featuring brass range from dedicated instrumental choirs to the Conservatory Orchestra. Whether your interest lies in symphonic repertoire or chamber music, there's a place for your unique voice.
Michail Thompson '22 creates performance opportunities that are outside of the box. He founded The Moonlight Society, a free unique concert series held on San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s rooftop terrace.
