Recognized worldwide for his musical prowess, Yubeen Kim achieved First Prize at the ARD International Music Competition, as well as First Prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition, and Second Prize (with no First Prize awarded) at the Concours de Genève. He has also been honored with special awards, including the Audience Prize, Young Audience Prize, and Special Prize. Subsequently, these achievements have opened doors for him to perform concerts across the world.
He has appeared as a soloist with many prestigious orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Bochumer Symphoniker, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is the Principal Flute of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra since January 2024, and served as the Principal Flute at the Konzerthausorchester Berlin from 2016 to 2023. He has regularly performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as a guest Principal Flute.

Julin Cheung, flute 

A recent graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Julin Cheung is the Assistant Principal Flute and Piccolo of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in Canada. During the summer, he performs with the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland. Julin is the First Prize winner of the 2024 Maxence Larrieu International Flute Competition, where he also received two special prizes for the interpretations of newly commissioned works, Kaptara by Guillaume Connesson and Monochromes by Élise Bertrand. He has received first prizes in the Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition, the National Flute Association’s High School Soloist Competition, and the Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia’s National Collegiate Artist Competition. As a soloist, Julin has performed with a number of leading orchestras, including the Seattle Symphony, L’Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice, and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony at Sunset attended by over 20,000 people. Originally from Seattle, Julin started playing the flute at six and joined the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra when he was nine. He has been invited to many international festivals, including the Galway Flute Festival, where he received the Junior Rising Star Award. Julin has appeared as a guest artist for the 13th Slovenian Flute Festival, the National Flute Association Convention, and the La Traversière International Flute Convention. Julin recently performed at Carnegie Hall’s 2025/26 Opening Night Gala with the NYO-USA All-Stars orchestra. In the summer of 2023, Julin toured North America as part of Carnegie Hall’s 10th Anniversary of NYO-USA. Later that year, he toured with a chamber ensemble through Curtis on Tour, with performances in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Texas. Julin was featured in a New York Times article by James Estrin and Joshua Barone (June 2024), and in an episode of WHYY’s On Stage at Curtis. A student of Jeffrey Khaner, Julin was the Gerry and Marguerite Lenfest Fellow at Curtis. In Seattle, Julin studied with Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Barker, Zart Dombourian-Eby, and Mary MacRae.
