The San Francisco Conservatory of Music shows off all its musical colors in October with concerts of Bach sonatas, string quartets (and duos and trios), award-winning contemporary American composers and even a mini-festival celebrating the surprisingly supple voice of the tuba. Events also reflect the school’s expansive educational mission. An international conference on the health and study of the human voice culminates in a genre-spanning concert of star singers. An acclaimed string quartet founded by SFCM alumni shares the secrets of running a successful ensemble. And guest artists appearing on major Bay Area stages stop by to tutor students in master classes that are open to the public. Most events are free. Ticketing and performance details can be found at calendar.sfcm.edu.
