WATCH: A Performance Inside Bowes
As part of a Faculty Artist Series: Baritone and instructor Matt Worth performs for the first time in the Bowes center, with a special composition by Dr. David Conte.
Music filled the Barbro Osher Recital Hall when baritone and professor Matt Worth performed as part of a Faculty Artist Series last month. It was the first time Worth performed at the new performance venue inside the new Bowes center, “To have the sun set behind me as the recital started was inspirational. A view of the symphony, the opera and city hall buoyed me and everybody in the audience through this really difficult and rewarding program,” Worth said.
Worth sang a series of compositions including one set by SFCM professor Dr. David Conte, Everyone Sang, with Kevin Korth accompanying on piano. For Conte, this was also the first time hearing a performance in the Barbro Osher Recital Hall, “The acoustics are superb, and the cityscape backdrop seems to elevate and compliment in a unique way whatever is in front of it. Having been at SFCM since 1985, when we had two halls in our building on Ortega Street in the Sunset, to now have five halls in the heart of Civic Center represents a kind of growth that I hardly could have imagined. It is thrilling,” Dr. Conte said.
