Who studies at SFCM?

In 2020-21, SFCM had an enrollment of 417 Collegiate students, 117 of whom graduated with a Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, or Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate. Among Collegiate students, voice, piano, strings, and Technology & Composition are the most popular areas of study. How do we engage the community?

SFCM’s community programs adapted and expanded by moving online, allowing our students to reach more people around the world in addition to the San Francisco Bay Area by partnering with local organizations wherever students called home last year.

K-12 students attending local public schools and after-school programs continued to benefit virtually from the music instruction and mentorship of SFCM students and recent alumni.

SFCM donors with SFCM students

Who supports us?

919 individual donor households, 78 institutional donors, 143 legacy society members, and 13 estates, in addition to our inspiring volunteers, collaborators, faculty, and staff, contributed to the success of our students and programs.

Who lives in our new home for music?

In October 2020, SFCM opened the Ute and William K. Bowes, Jr. Center for Performing Arts, our new residential housing, education and performance facility, to our first 250 student residents, including 54 SF Ballet School students. Located at 200 Van Ness Avenue, the Bowes Center expands SFCM’s existing campus in the heart of the Civic Center and is transforming our students’ educational experience.
