Alumni Events

A lifelong connection

Your relationship with SFCM doesn’t have to end at commencement. We have one of the most connected alumni communities in the music world, and we couldn’t keep this family together if we didn’t stay in touch and put on some great events just for you. From our Alumni Artist Insights concert series to talks and networking events on and off campus, we make sure you have opportunities to remain connected with your school friends and meet graduates from different classes. Networking events at LinkedIn, mixers at the Conservatory … there’s much more where that came from.

These events give you the chance to rekindle a friendship, see your peers perform, and discover the paths others have taken.

SFCM Alumni Artist Insights Series presents Nomad Session

Friday, March 6 at 7:30 PM (doors open at 7pm)

San Francisco Conservatory of Music Sol Joseph Recital Hall: 50 Oak Street, San Francisco

Join us for this special alumni concert with Nomad Session, performing a program titled "Infinity." Infinity encompasses one of Nomad Session's main goals, which is to further establish the wind octet as a widely accepted chamber music genre. The different styles of music on this program highlights the infinite possibilities of what an ensemble of hybrid winds can achieve, and what genres of music Nomad uses to create a stand alone repertoire for this instrumentation. Particular highlights on this program are Lincolnshire Posy and Splinter. Lincolnshire Posy is originally scored for a massively dense instrumentation. Nomad’s version is equally as exciting and highlights the extreme versatility on the eight wind instruments. Originally written for reed quintet, the wind octet version of Splinter by Marc Mellits is packed with raucous minimalist melodies that will leave your bopping your head and dancing in your seat!. A special student-led Q&A with the artists will follow the performance. Looking to get more involved?

We’re always looking for volunteers across the U.S. to help host alumni events in cities outside of San Francisco. If you have an idea for an alumni event or are willing to help put one together, get in touch with us at alum@sfcm.edu.
