Earthquake Drill
Other - Event, Student Life
On Friday, October 18 at 12:00 PM, SFCM will conduct an earthquake drill at 50 Oak Street. We will also conduct a test of the SFCM Alerts emergency notification system; the test will include email notifications and text notifications (if you have registered and added your phone number to the SFCM Alerts system). All faculty, staff, and students at 50 Oak Street at the time of the drill are required to participate.
Faculty and staff: your assistance with ensuring the drill is conducted in your classroom/office is greatly appreciated.
As a reminder, earthquake safety procedures are:
Drop, Cover and Hold. Stay inside.
- Drop under a sturdy desk or other heavily constructed furniture if available; otherwise,
- Drop down by the inner wall, facing away from glass, tall furniture, and hanging lights.
- Cover your head.
- Hold and remain in position until you are sure the shaking has stopped.
- Wait for instructions over the PA system.
We will NOT conduct an evacuation drill immediately following the earthquake drill. There is no need to exit 50 Oak for this Earthquake Drill.
