Biography

Hang Li's illustrious career began with her graduation from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China at the age of 20. She became the youngest piano faculty member at the Central Conservatory of Music in China and the youngest member of the judging committee for the Piano Performance Certificate administered by the Chinese Musician's Association in Beijing. Ms. Li has performed in some of the most renowned concert halls across China, the US, and Europe, earning high praise for her "truly poetic and exhilarating" performances, which are characterized by her "exquisite and sensitive touch." Ms. Li is an active pianist for the Joaquin Achucarro Foundation. She is also a frequent adjudicator of piano competitions in the US and China.

At the age of 10, Ms. Li made her solo recital debut at the Tianjin Concert Hall in Tianjin, China. Her Beijing Concert Hall debut in 1996, featuring Chinese and Western contemporary piano works, received glowing reviews. Ms. Li gave the Chinese premiere of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the Shanghai Concert Hall in 1997, delivering a fresh interpretation that showcased her impressive maturity and skill. Before settling in the Bay Area, Ms. Li served as a faculty member at the University of Alabama Birmingham, Coppell Conservatory, and Yew Chung International School.

Ms. Li's students have been selected for world-class piano competitions such as the Van Cliburn Junior Competition, Hilton Head International Competitions, and have won numerous top prizes at prestigious piano events including the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Seattle International Piano Competition, Pacific Music Competition, Enkor Competition, MTAC Piano Competition, Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, and many more. Many of her students have also decided to pursue music majors and have been accepted into esteemed music programs such as The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory of Music, Stanford, Yale, and Cornell University. Ms. Li's students have been invited to world-renowned music festivals with scholarships, such as the Aspen Music Festival, Morningside Music Bridge, Bowdoin International Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, and Music@Menlo.

Hang Li received her Master's of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, an Artist's Certificate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, an Artist Diploma from Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, and a Bachelor of Arts from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, China.
