Marc Teicholz

Marc Teicholz, the first prize-winner of the International Guitar Foundation of America (GFA) competition in 1989, is on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has performed extensively throughout the United States, China, Canada, Russia, and Europe, receiving critical acclaim for his recitals, concerto appearances, and master classes. Mr. Teicholz has also toured Southeast Asia, Fiji, and New Zealand under the auspices of the U.S.I.A. Artistic Ambassador program. His previous recordings include a solo CD of waltzes (“Valseana”) performed on vintage instruments with Guitar Salon International, which was named by Acoustic Magazine as one of the 10 best CDs of 2011. A recording of the music of Ernesto Nazareth, arranged and produced by Sergio Assad, was released in 2016 and named by Acoustic Magazine as one of the 10 best CDs of that year. Mr. Teicholz premiered a concerto by Clarice Assad in 2016, O Saci Pererê, dedicated to Mr. Teicholz. He is a featured performer for the website GuitarbyMasters. Marc Teicholz graduated magna cum laude from Yale University, 1985, received a master's degree from the Yale School of Music, 1986, and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley at the Boalt School of Law, 1990. He lives in Berkeley, California.
