Biography
Pianist Mihyun Kim maintains an active musical career as a soloist and chamber musician. She has appeared in prestigious venues such as Kennedy Center, U.S. State Department, Hill Auditorium and Seoul Arts Center, among many others. Dr. Kim was invited to perform in the Guest Artist Series of Oberlin Conservatory and Eastman School of Music, and her highly acclaimed performance at Max M. Music Center led her to receive the Doreen Wessel Taylor Piano Award. Her performances have been broadcast on WQXR New York and Bloomfield County Public Television.
An avid chamber musician, Dr. Kim has appeared in various concerts around the world. Her most recent collaborations include appearances in the Covenant Presbyterian Church Chamber Music Series, Concert Series by Belvedere-Tiburon Land Marks Society, University of California-Santa Cruz and San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
In addition to her concert career, Dr. Kim is also a devoted teacher. She currently serves on the faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College. Previously, she has taught at Yale University and the University of Michigan.
Mihyun Kim holds master’s and doctoral degrees in piano performance from Yale University and the University of Michigan. Her teachers include Arthur Greene, Peter Frankl, and Kyung-Sook Lee. She has also received guidance from renowned artists such as Leon Fleisher, William Bolcom, Claude Frank, Ivan Moravec and Boris Slutsky.
