ABOUT SFCM’S VOICE DEPARTMENT

Find your voice—and your community. A tight-knit group, voice students work closely with all-star faculty who have performed at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Paris Opera, Milan’s La Scala, and many others. As a student at SFCM, you'll have the opportunity to regularly attend dress rehearsals at the San Francisco Opera and take advantage of performance opportunities around the Bay Area.

ABOUT SFCM FACULTY, MATTHEW WORTH

This season baritone Matthew Worth performs the title role in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Boston Lyric Opera, returns to his critically lauded portrayal of the Narrator in Richard Danielpour’s The Passion of Yeshua at Royce Hall in Los Angeles and again with the Buffalo Philharmonic and continues his doctoral studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Mr.Worth’s performances in 2017/18 included the title role in David T. Little & Royce Vavrek’s JFK with Opéra de Montréal, the Narrator in the world premiere of Richard Danielpour’s i with the Oregon Bach Festival, Bernstein’s Arias & Barcarolles with the New York Festival of Song at Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Laura Kaminsky & Mark Campbell’s As One with Cincinnati Opera, and recitals at the University of Cincinnati and Austin Peay University.
Highlights of recent seasons include the title role in the world premiere of JFK with Fort Worth Opera, the world premiere of The Manchurian Candidate with Minnesota Opera, and Moby Dick at Washington National Opera. He has performed principal roles at Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opéra de Montréal, Tanglewood Festival, Cincinnati Opera, and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, under luminary conductors James Levine, Lorin Maazel, and Sir Andrew Davis.
