PC - MasterclassOpen to the public and free admission!
The lecture will trace the line of essentially non-guitarist composers through the 20th century, from Stravinsky to Falla, Martín and Britten and then some of the great works of the second part of the 20th century.
David Tanenbaum, Chair of the SFCM Collegiate Guitar Department, is one of today’s most eloquent proponents of new guitar repertoire and has had music composed for him by many of the most acclaimed composers of our time including John Adams, Lou Harrison, Hans Werner Henze, Aaron Jay Kernis, Roberto Sierra, Terry Riley and many more. David has toured extensively with Steve Reich and Musicians, was invited to perform in Japan by Toru Takemitsu, and has had a long association with the Ensemble Modern. As a chamber musician he has collaborated with, among others, the Kronos, Shanghai, Alexander and Chester String Quartets, dancer Tandy Beal and guitarist Manuel Barrueco.
