SFCM Alumni Win Avery Fisher Grants

On Tuesday, March 29 it will be announced that violinist Alexi Kenney (alumnus of SFCM's Pre-College Divison) and cellist Jay Campbell (SFCM Collegiate alumnus) are among the recipients of the 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grants. The Avery Fisher Career Grants are worth $25,000 and designed to give professional assistance to young musicians who are deemed to have the potential for a solo career. Kenney was a student of Wei He, and Campbell was a student of Jennifer Culp. Past recipients of the Avery Fisher Career Grant include Charlie Albright, Joshua Bell, Anthony McGill, Edgar Meyer, Sarah Chang, Hillary Hahn, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, Richard Stoltzman, Conrad Tao, Peter Wiley, Dmitri Sitkovetsky and Heidi Lehwalder. 

The recipients will perform when the grants are announced on Tuesday at 6 pm at the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WQXR's studios in New York, an event which will be streamed live and broadcast on the station, 105.9 FM, on April 30 at 9 pm, with a replay on May 4 at 10 pm.
