San Francisco International Piano Festival Finale: A Well-Tempered Legacy

Concert
Sunday, August 28 2022, 2:00 PM

The Festival concludes with a celebration of Bach’s enduring influence across the centuries. Dmitri Shostakovich integrated the spirit and craftsmanship of Bach in a unique way through his Piano Quintet (1940) with its imposing prelude and expansive fugue. Selections from Tom Sivak’s brilliant and heartfelt Well-Tempered Lennon & McCartney will receive their West Coast Premiere, and the festival closes with a special guest appearance by master blues and jazz pianist Tammy Lynn Hall in Bach inspired music of the legendary Nina Simone. Don’t miss this unique musical journey!
