Percussion Auditions

Requirements

After submitting the application, applicants for the Percussion program will be required to select a virtual performance interview time and submit recordings fulfilling the repertoire listed below. Recordings will be due three weeks before the selected virtual performance interview time. There is no prescreening requirement for percussion applicants.

Works with piano are not required to be performed with a pianist or piano recording. Applicants will be able to indicate any concerns regarding access to necessary instruments and equipment for the virtual performance interview when selecting a virtual performance interview time.

Undergraduate

  • Mallet percussion
    1. A two-mallet piece (your choice)
    2. A four-mallet piece (your choice)
  • Snare drum
    1. Etude: Cirone, Peters, Delecluse
    2. Rudimental: Wilcoxon, Pratt
  • Timpani
    1. Etude: Hochrainer, Vic Firth, Goodman

Graduate and Postgraduate

  • Mallet percussion
    1. A two-mallet piece (your choice)
    2. A four-mallet piece (your choice)
    3. 2-3 orchestral excerpts on xylophone, glockenspiel, and/or vibraphone
  • Snare drum
    1. Etude: Delecluse, Peters, Macarez
    2. Rudimental: Pratt, Tompkins
    3. 2-3 orchestral excerpts
  • Timpani
    1. Etude: Hochrainer
    2. 3-4 orchestral excerpts
