Kayla Wilfong is an operatic soprano with an “extraordinarily powerful and carrying voice” (The Daily Journal) and an internationally award-winning voice teacher from rural Michigan and the Bay Area.
Leading up to 2026 she will play the title role of Cendrillon (Cinderella) in Viardot’s Cendrillon with Opera Modesto and will sing the title role in the world-premiere of Waterfall, a new opera by Italian-American opera composer Lisa Scola-Prosek. Other recent engagements include playing Musetta in Puccini’s La Bohème in Sicily, Italy in 2025 under maestro Leonardo Catalonotto, singing the lead heroine Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, and being the featured soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 under maestro Tony Quartuccio in June 2025. As a voice teacher and conductor, Kayla holds multiple national and international teaching awards, regularly conducts and gives masterclasses for Bay Area choruses, and has served at many leading Bay Area institutions including as a Soloist Intensive Voice Instructor for the San Francisco Girls Chorus. Kayla majored in Voice Performance/Opera and received her Bachelor of Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2019.,,world premiere,
