Scholarship Giving
SFCM students have the talent and the determination to undertake one of the most demanding and competitive of professions. They have clocked thousands of hours and made many sacrifices. Some even take on long-term debt just to possess a good instrument. Music is their focus, and, filled with the promise and passion of achievement, they are intent on pursuing their dreams and making an impact.
They can’t do it alone.
Cost of attendance is the number one reason admitted students are unable to enroll at SFCM, and while we have invested substantially in financial aid, our goal is to ultimately provide a debt-free education as part of our mission. Each year, despite every student receiving some scholarship funding, they incur approximately $4.2 million in loan debt.
Gifts of any amount to the general scholarship fund are welcome.
CURRENT-USE SCHOLARSHIPS
Opportunities to establish new, named current-use scholarships begin at $25,000. Current-use scholarships are generally awarded over a predetermined period of time until the fund is depleted. You can also continue to add to your scholarship over time.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
Opportunities to establish new, named endowed scholarship funds begin at $100,000. Endowed scholarships exist in perpetuity and provide support to future generations. The principal of an endowed scholarship is permanently invested, and the income it earns is awarded to students annually. Many donors choose to create an endowed scholarship in honor or in memory of a family member, friend, or other important person.
Scholarship donors are invited to the annual Scholarship Luncheon, as well as their scholarship recipients’ performances and recitals, and receive an individualized annual scholarship report.
The Office of Financial Aid selects award recipients based on the criteria set forth by the donor in the scholarship agreement.
