What is your hometown?

What are your favorite recordings?
Mozart Arias, Kathleen Battle. Spirituals, Jessye Norman. Mahler Songs, Jan Degaetani.
What are you passionate about outside of music?
I like biking with friends in and around the Bay Area. And table tennis.
Who were your major teachers?
Irene Sharp, Channing Robbins, Paul Katz, Steve Doane, and Joel Krosnick.
What is a favorite quote that you repeatedly tell students?
“Intonation is biodegradable.”
What question do you wish students would ask sooner rather than later?
“Should I record myself?”
What is your daily practice routine?
Every day is different when you have two kids and a dog to take care of.
If you could play only three composers for the rest of your life, who would they be?
Bach, Schubert, and Dvořák.
From a music history perspective, what year and city are most important to you?
Mantua, early 20th Century (for the wonderful instruments made there).
What are your most important collaborations?
Concerto appearances with the San Francisco Symphony and Sun Valley Symphony.
