Conservatory Connect

a flutist and guitarist outside playing together

Conservatory Connect benefits both the performance needs of the students and the people of the Bay Area. For more than two decades, we’ve taken live music into schools, hospitals, retirement homes, children’s facilities, and other places where people of limited means and mobility are seldom reached. Through Conservatory Connect, the Conservatory presents approximately 150 performances each year.

How It Works

Partner Organizations

  • Partner Organization Information
    • We bring the music, you bring the audience. Student chamber groups present hour-long, engaging performances at our partner organization’s facilities. Along with the music, SFCM students share their experiences to create an attention-grabbing event.
    • Organizations interested in hiring student musicians to provide music for parties, weddings, and other events unrelated to Conservatory Connect can do so through our Hire SFCM program.
  • Organizations that choose to donate to Conservatory Connect can do so here.
  • Application Process
    • Each partner organization must meet the following criteria for inclusion in the program:
      • Must be a non-profit organization
      • Must be located in San Francisco, CA
      • Must serve populations of limited means and/or mobility, or populations without regular access to musical performances
    • Interested organizations can complete their application here.

Student Participants

  • Conservatory Connect students develop exceptional performance and audience engagement skills through first-hand experience. Students admitted to the Hire SFCM program are enrolled in the Conservatory Connect course and form small chamber ensembles with their peers. Each ensemble works with the Director of Community Engagement and their partner organizations to create four unique, engaging performances each semester. Conservatory Connect performances are for class credit and are unpaid.
  • Interested students can view audition requirements on the Hire SFCM page.
