Tree Lighting Celebration Held at Bowes
Students, faculty, and staff filled the Bowes center for the first annual lighting of the Christmas tree celebration with special student performances.
‘Tis the season! Boughs of holly can now be found at the The Bowes Center after the lighting of the tree in the Barbro Osher Recital Hall on December 4th. The celebration featured speakers, student performances, and holiday themed treats.
Many student performers came from the SFCM’s Pre-College division, “We truly lit up the Bowes Center for the Performing Arts at our Tree Lighting Celebration,” said Mike Roest, the Director of Pre-College and Adult Extension programs, “We were blown away by the sweeping views of San Francisco and City Hall, as well as the brilliant and touching chamber music performance presented by the Pre-College students. It was a perfect way to come together as a community and kick off the holiday season. The future of music is undoubtedly bright, and we look forward to presenting many more concerts in these stunning new concert venues,” Roest added.
The celebration included a notable performance by SFCM Pre-College students and ensemble the Stars Aligned Siblings, Dustin Breshears, 15, Starla Breshears, 13, Valery Breshears, 12, and Colin Breshears, 9. The group performed String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat Major, “The Hunt”, K. 458 - W.A. Mozart (7’). The event was presented by sponsor Harry Winston.
