Studio Recitals feature students who all study with the same faculty instructor. These young artists represent their studio with a program curated by their teacher.

Countess Almaviva dictates to Susanna the invitation to a tryst addressed to the Countess’ husband, in a plot to expose his infidelity.

     from The Impresario
The Impresario, Mr. Buskin, has to deal with the egos of two rivaling divas, Mrs. Heartfelt and Miss Silvertone competing for a leading role.

Richard Strauss: Presentation of the Rose
     from Der Rosenkavalier
The presentation of the rose occurs at the beginning of Act Two when Count Octavian gives Sophie von Faninal a silver rose on her engagement morning. On giving her the rose, it is love at first sight.

Gioachino Rossini: "Perche mi guardi e piangi"
     from Zelmira
In this Act One duet between Zelmira and her confidante Emma, Emma is comforting Zelmira after being falsely accused of murdering her husband.

W.A. Mozart: "Si'o non mori a questi accenti"
     from Idomeneo
S’io non mori a questi accenti is sung by Ilia and Idamante at the beginning of the Third Act. After much conflict, they sing about the all-conquering love between them.

Engelbert Humperdinck: Duet and Sandman Aria
     from Hänsel und Gretel
Hansel and Gretel are lost in the forest and scared of the darkness. The Sandman appears and calms the frightened children by sprinkling magic sand, allowing them to fall asleep and dream peacefully; they then sing their evening prayer.

Johann Strauss II: Watch Duet
     from Die Fledermaus
Rosalinde arrives at the ball disguised as a Hungarian countess to spy on her husband Eisenstein’s behavior. He becomes enamored with the Countess and tries to win her over with his watch.

Stephen Schwartz: For Good
     from Wicked
Glinda and Elphaba say goodbye to each other and express that although they have differences, their lives have been profoundly changed for the better because of their friendship and knowing each other. The impact of their bond will remain “for good”.

A tight-knit group, voice students work closely with all-star faculty who have performed at the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Paris Opera, Milan’s La Scala, and many others. As a student at SFCM, you'll have the opportunity to regularly attend dress rehearsals at the San Francisco Opera and take advantage of performance opportunities around the Bay Area.
