Partnership events offer the unique opportunity for our students to work with outside organizations, allowing them to work with professionals in the industry and learn from their expertise. 

Program

Women Crossing/ Liminality

Sixth multimedia collaboration of the Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) and SFCM Department of Technology and Applied Composition (TAC), and the culmination of the E4TT’s two-year exploration of women's immigration and identity, with four World Premieres and two additional works:

  • The E4TT/ TAC student multimedia composition competition winner
  • Fields of Sorrow, for soprano, cello, and piano, setting landay (women's poetry from Afghanistan)
  • Say It in Your Heart, Say It in Your Sleep for piano by Leilehua Lanzilotti
  • Liminal/ity by Sofia Jem Ouyang for cello
  • New music by Vivian Fung for bass flute and found object percussion
  • New music for violin, cello, found-object percussion, tape, voice, and electronics by Pamela Z

Pre-concert talk at 7 PM with composers Vivian Fung and Pamela Z.

Performed by Ensemble for These Times cellist Megan Chartier and pianist Margaret Halbig, joined by percussionist Haruka Fujii, violinist Lylia Guion, soprano Bryana Marrero, flutist Stacey Pelinka, and composer-performer and media artist Pamela Z.

Ensemble for These Times

Winner of The American Prize for Chamber Music Performance in 2021, contemporary chamber music group Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) consists of award-winning soprano, Artistic Executive Director and co-founder Nanette McGuinness, cellist and season graphic designer Megan Chartier, pianist Margaret Halbig, and composer, co-founder, and Senior Artistic Advisor David Garner, plus regular guest musicians. Women artists are an ongoing focus.
