Soloist/Section Leaders - St. John's Episcopal Church of Ross, CA (ends 5/1)

Description: 

Two section leaders needed to sing in our choir for Thursday night rehearsals 7pm-8:30pm, Sunday services 9am-11:15am, and occasional special paid events at higher rates.

Baritone or tenor position available immediately. Soprano or alto position available by 2/18.

Qualifications: 

  • Strong music reader
  • Ablility to lead the section
  • Willingness to provide solos

Responsibilities: 

Thursday evenings, Sunday mornings, (Holy week Thurs, Friday, Sat. Sunday); free for the summer after start of Pentecost.

Salary: 

Rehearsals & Sunday services = $75. Other engagements by agreement.

Choral Singer with Concordia Choir - Oakland, CA (ends 5/31)

Description: 

Concordia Choir is seeking singers to strengthen and enhance our group. We are a mixed voice choir (SATB), consisting of 8 paid singers and some volunteers. We are not a traditional choir with a standard repertoire; our goal is to create one of a kind, beautiful music that touches the lives of our audience. We sing classical and gospel music with a modern twist. We are a performance-oriented choir. We often perform with many classical musicians and soloists. Our rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30pm and Sunday morning 9-9:45am. We sing for choral eucharists on most Sundays 10-11:20am. Baritone or tenor position available immediately. Soprano or alto position available by 2/18.

Qualifications: 

A strong voice, preferably a good sight-reader, with an aptitude and enthusiasm for vocal artistry.

Responsibilities: 

To attend both Thursday and Sunday rehearsals and to perform on Sundays with a thorough understanding of the music offered.

Salary: 

Depends on the level of experience and expertise ($120-$160 for 4 hours)

Singer with Allegro - Oakland, CA (ends 6/17)

Description: 

Vocal ensemble Allegro is seeking to add 4 more voices to our team--one per section (SATB). We are a small choir within a choir, consisting of singers in their 20s and 30s. Our main genre is classical/sacred, though we sing variety of music. Our performances include religious services, concerts, weddings and funerals. Baritone or tenor position available immediately. Soprano or alto position available by 2/18.

Qualifications: 

A Beautiful voice and love of music are requisites. An enthusiasm for life and music a plus.

Responsibilities: 

4 hours time commitment per week. Rehearsals on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Salary: 

$150 per week (4 hours)

Substitute Soloist - Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, San Francisco (ends 6/23)

Description: 

Soloist needed to learn and sing pre-selected solo (in English), and three hymns. Baritone or tenor position available immediately. Soprano or alto position available by 2/18.

Qualifications: 

Soloist must sing with skill and clarity. Pronunciation and a professional appearance and bearing are most desired.

Responsibilities: 

Perform solo, lead three hymns and rehearse with pipe-organ accompanist 9:30-10:00am before service 11:00 am. Remain with congregation during service.

Salary: 

Starting $85.00/service

San Francisco Choral Artists - Auditions

Description: 

Consider joining a happy, innovative, 24-voice, chamber choir that excels in eclectic programming and exciting performances. The ensemble of choice for many audiences, composers, and singers, SFCA sings diverse and beautiful music, featuring newly commissioned American works, contemporary compositions, and choral masterworks of the last 700 years from around the globe. With 30 seasons of experience, over 240 world premieres, excellent critical reviews, awards for “adventurous programming”, and a fine artistic director, SFCA can offer you the joy that comes from singing in a chamber ensemble with other capable, enthusiastic, and dedicated choral singers.

Qualifications: 

You should have extensive choral experience, solo potential, excellent reading and musicianship skills, and be dedicated to the art of chamber singing.

Responsibilities: 

Rehearsals are on selected Monday evenings prior to each concert set, from 7-10 PM, in San Francisco. 
Each of three (occasionally 4) subscription concert sets is performed three times (in San Francisco, Oakland, and Palo Alto). There may be a few additional performances.

Salary: 

Modest compensation is offered for rehearsals and concerts.
