Admitted Visit Days are Here! 

We are thrilled to have Admitted Fall 2024 students on campus between April 4-6, 2024!  Over these days, you'll get a chance to see (and hear) firsthand the exciting opportunities that await you at SFCM. You are welcome to attend one, some, or all of these events as they fit your schedule.

General Information

We're excited for your visit!

Registration for this event has ended. If you are interested in attending the event, please email nccyl@fspz.rqhude.mcfs@ylppa .

One registration form per party (admitted student and their guests). Each admitted student can bring up to two guests to the event. However, for on-campus housing requests, only one guest (in addition to the applicant) can be accommodated in the dorms. Please be aware that priority seating in classes will be given to students.

A full schedule of events and locations will be provided to guests upon check-in. Further details can be found in the 'Visit Day Events' section below.

Wednesday, April 3
Early check-in option for those staying on-campus (5:30-7:00 pm), resident assistant (RA) hangout.

Thursday, April 4
Welcome reception/meet and greet, class observations, presentations/Q&A, campus and neighborhood tours, SF Jazz open dress rehearsal, and club events. Baroque opera dress rehearsal and student degree recitals.

Friday, April 5
Class observations, presentations/Q&A, campus and neighborhood tours, and club events. TAC department recital, violin department recital, student degree recitals, Jewish Student Collective concert.

Saturday, April 6
Closing brunch/reception, campus tour, outing to Ocean Beach, Studio G Movie Club, Historical Performance opera, student degree recitals.

On-Campus Housing at The Bowes Center

On-campus housing in the Bowes Center dorms is available during Visit Days. Admitted students and one guest can request on-campus housing in the Bowes Center dorms via the Event Registration Form. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited availability. Rooms will be assigned by March 29. As accommodation cannot be guaranteed, applicants should have a backup plan.

Important Room Information

  • Gender Inclusive Suites: Our suites are gender inclusive. While we will not mix self-identified genders within a room, genders may be mixed within a suite which has a shared bathroom and living space. While single rooms cannot be guaranteed, we will consider special requests based on registration form feedback. Visitors may also indicate their comfort in staying in a mix-gendered suite. 
  • Bedding, Towels, Pillow: Rooms will be equipped with bedding, towels, soap, and toilet paper.
Other Accommodations

We offer a 15% discount at the Hotel Enso in Japantown! Previous visitors have found accommodations in the Hayes Valley and Mission Dolores areas convenient for walking to the SFCM campus. However, many opt to stay in other parts of the city to explore various cultures and vibes. We recommend reading the San Francisco Travel Associations introduction to San Francisco Neighborhoods for more information.

Required Check In

All admitted students and guests must check in with the Admissions Office to attend Admitted Visit Days events.  Upon check in visitors will receive an updated schedule of events and locations, visitor security pass, and other important information. Visitors staying for multiple days only need to check in their first day. 

When to Arrive

For those who are staying on-campus at the Bowes Center, please plan to arrive no later than one hour prior to your preferred first event to check in, access your room, and walk to the event location. All other visitors should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to check in.

On April 1st, 2024, we will send out details regarding the check in location(s) based on attendance.

The SFCM campus has two buildings, the Ann Getty Center and The Bowes Center.  Both buildings are within two city blocks and a five-minute walk from each other!

Event Descriptions
  • RA Hangout: Enjoy a relaxing rooftop hangout with the resident assistants of the Bowes Center, featuring fire pits, hot chocolate, tea, and snacks! Get to know what it’s like to live at Bowes and experience life as an SFCM student!
  • Campus Tours: Join us for 90-minute campus tours led by current Admissions Office student staff. These interactive tours offer you the chance to ask questions while experiencing our campus firsthand. Explore the Ann Getty Center (50 Oak Street) and The Bowes Center facilities and dorms (200 Van Ness Ave) with us.
  • Artistic Community & Hayes Valley Tour: Join a tour to check out our neighborhood Hayes Valley and the incredible artistic community that surrounds us! We’ll show you some of our favorite places nearby in Hayes Valley and check out the San Francisco Opera, Davies Symphony Hall, the San Francisco Ballet, SF Jazz, and more! Location: Meet in the Bowes Center Lobby 10 minutes before the event.
  • Board Game & Nintendo Switch Night: Hang out with some of the current SFCM students and the Resident Assistants and play Nintendo Switch and board games! We’ll provide the games and snacks! Location: TBA
  • Picnic in Alamo Square: Join current SFCM students and some of our staff for an afternoon picnic in Alamo Square! We’ll meet as a group at the Bowes Center and walk to Alamo Square. Feel free to bring snacks or lunch, and we look forward to catching some rays with you in the park! Location: Meet in the Bowes Lobby and walk to Alamo Square (25 minute walk)
  • Trip to Ocean Beach: Join current SFCM students on a trip to Ocean Beach! We’ll meet at the Bowes Center at 1 PM to take the Muni out to Ocean Beach to enjoy a day in the sun. Be sure to layer up and bring a jacket since it gets cold. Location: Meet in the Bowes Center Lobby at 1:50 pm. 
Club Information
  • Arise Christian Fellowship: Arise Christian Fellowship is a student-led group at SFCM that meets weekly for Bible study and prayer. Their mission is to learn and apply what the Bible says about being musicians and artists, and to support and encourage one another on campus. All are welcome to join, regardless of faith background!
  • Basketball Club: Take a much needed break from the practice rooms and repertoire, and come get active with The Basketball Club! There is no experience necessary and beginners are encouraged to join.
  • Counterpoint Club: Led by students of our composition department, the Counterpoint Club is a discussion forum where we share exercises and explore the fun-side of counterpoint!
  • Game Audio Club: Led by current TAC students, the Game Audio Club meets to discuss all things game audio, whether that be music, sound design, or audio programming. Students can bring in their own topics for discussion, projects to share, or just their eyes and ears to learn more about this unique application of music and technology. All are welcome to join!
  • Jewish Student Collective: The newly formed SFCM Jewish Student Collective is presenting A Night of Jewish Music. The program features students from across the Conservatory and includes works by Heggie, Glass, Schwartz, Bloch, and more. All are welcome to attend!
  • Pride Network: Get to know members of the Pride Network, which is open to all current students that identify as a part of the LQBTQIA+ community as well as allies! We’ll have some snacks and activities to get to know each other!
