Film Scoring
Collegiate Apply / Request Information
The Film Scoring Track takes a sequential approach to developing both the essential hands on and theoretical knowledge needed for modern composers and producers. Students start by working "in the box" with digital audio workstations like Pro-Tools, Logic, Ableton and more, as well as utilizing large scale sample libraries like East West, VSL and others. This is followed by writing and producing music for live instruments, incorporating various sized ensembles into the workflow from solo instruments to small chamber groups. We also explore emerging media such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), extended reality (XR), artificial intelligence (AI), and spatial audio systems like Dolby ATMOS. Lastly students will work one on one with film directors on everything from documentaries to narrative productions.
The TAC Curriculum includes Orchestration for the Media Composer, Film Scoring: Techniques & Analysis, and Media Scoring Workshop. Classes are designed to help young composers develop a unique voice in their music and build a portfolio to gain the skills they need to work in the film industry of today.
